ACCIDENT TEMPORARILY STOPS 9/11 RIDE

The 9/11 Memorial Coalition Ride was halted for about 15 minutes last night at about 6:30, after a traffic control officer was hit by a participant in the ride.  According to the Sun Gazette, the South Williamsport Fire Chief confirmed that a volunteer fire police officer from South Williamsport was hit by a person driving a three wheel motorcycle, and was pinned under the vehicle for about 10 minutes at Riverside Drive and Maynard Street.  The officer did not suffer life threatening injuries, but was transported to UPMC Williamsport with unnamed injuries.  The ride continued after the accident cleared.  Borough police are investigating the crash.

MURDER CHARGES FILED IN 7 YEAR OLD WILLIAMSPORT CASE

After seven years passed since a shooting in Lycoming County left one man dead, Williamsport police have charged a current inmate at Allenwood Penitentiary with the crime.  According to the Sun Gazette, 42 year old Dawud M. Rogers allegedly shot and killed William Michael Blackwell December 30th 2016 at the 2000 block of Boyd Street and the 3pm shooting was caught on surveillance cameras.  Police say Blackwell also had a history of crime, potentially the suspect in another shooting near Park Avenue and Grier Streets and had been arrested for charges in Lycoming County in Philadelphia in 2016. Rogers was charged additionally with homicide, aggravated assault, illegal possession of a firearm.  He is currently incarcerated on drug charges from 2018.

COUNSELING AVAILABLE AT JERSEY SHORE AFTER ACCIDENT

Additional counselors remain at the Jersey Shore Area School District this week to help students and staff who are supporting #4 – senior Max Engel, who collapsed at the Jersey Shore/Selinsgrove football game Friday night.  According to WNEP, the school district asked for privacy, thoughts, and prayers for the family as they continue to seek care for Max who was transported by ambulance Friday night.  All students are asked to wear Orange on Thursday to support he Engel family and plans are in place to raise additional funds at the home game Friday for the family and the impending medical expenses.  A Gofundme page “Help the Family of Max Engel” has surpassed its’ newly set 32 thousand dollar goal.

TROUT UNLIMITED OUTDOOR CHAPTER MEETING WEDNESDAY

The Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited will have a picnic and outdoor meeting Wednesday at Trout Run Park Pavilion for members and potential members who want to learn about the chapter, try out fly casting or talk with experienced fly fishers.  According to the chapter website, the public is welcome at 5:30 for a meet, greet and demos along with food and drinks – with fishing equipment available to try.  Free first-time memberships will be available Wednesday, also.  Find out more at Susquehanna T U dot com.

POTTER COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

A 59 year old man from the Galeton area who was on the run after he threatened to shoot an ex-girlfriend and her friend Sunday in Gaines, was found in the woods by police with an injury himself.  According to North Central PA dot com, Robert Wildey allegedly forced his way into the apartment of a former girlfriend on Germania Street, threatened the pair and then fired a shot at the man, striking him in the arm, then aimed the gun at the woman who struggled with Wildley when a shot went off but caused no injuries.  Wildley fled the scene, threatening to kill himself.  He was later found in the woods off Hanky Panky Road in Gaines and flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with a gunshot. Local schools were closed Monday afternoon when State police issued a warning that Wildley was on the loose prior to his capture. He was charged with attempted murder.

PENN COLLEGE STUDENT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

A Penn College student is free on bail after allegedly assaulting two campus officers August 11th while she was being held at the campus police station for public drunkenness and underage drinking.  According to the Sun Gazette, 19 year old Paige Nicole Wright was seen by campus police being carried by two unknown males before she was dropped and they fled the scene.  Wright, from Forest Hill Maryland later caused a disturbance at the station by pulling a fire alarm, threw furniture and kicked the two officers.  She was arraigned and initially committed to Lycoming County Prison, and has a preliminary hearing later this month.

NORTHUMBERLAND ROAD REOPENED AFTER CRASH

Penndot is updating motorists that the crash involving multiple cars that closed down Route 147 between Herndon Bypass Road in Jackson Township and Boyles Run Road in Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland County is now back open.  You can get updates of all traffic slowdowns in the commonwealth online anytime at 511PA dot com.

LOANS AVAILABLE FOR PA FARMERS

Farmers who qualify can take advantage of some new loan opportunities.  The USDA’s Farm Service Agency has funding specifically for Targeted Underserved Groups and Beginning Farmer loans designed to help farmers purchase and operate family farms.  According to the FSA farm ownership loans may be used to purchase or enlarge a farm, purchasing easements or rights of way for farms,  improve or build buildings, promote soil and water conservation and development, as well as closing costs.  Farm operating loans may be used to purchase livestock, equipment, feed and seed, food, clothing, medical care, hired labor and more. The New York Jets are still awaiting official word on Aaron Rodgers’ status, but they are concerned that Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in the game last night.  Just four snaps into his debut with the Jets, Rodgers was injured and it prematurely ended his much-anticipated performance.  They expect to have results from an MRI today.
