After losing our downtown Williamsport location, and with it, several sponsors, this celebration almost didn’t happen. Fortunately, several of our longtime sponsors remained committed, and with new sponsors stepping up to help, Lycoming County will celebrate the nation’s 250th Birthday with an incredible fireworks display.
Join us on Saturday, July 4th, as we come together to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day at the fairgrounds. Gates open at 7 PM, with the fireworks lighting up the sky at 9:30 PM sharp, rain or shine!
Geisinger Health System stepped up as our title sponsor, ensuring this year’s fireworks tradition would continue.

Pack the lawn chairs, bring the family, and celebrate the Fourth with Backyard Broadcasting’s Set the Night to Music, Saturday, July 4th, at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville!
The fairgrounds WILL NOT be open. Emergency route parking restrictions will be in effect in Hughesville.
In previous years, our annual Set the Night to Music Fireworks Extravaganza has featured live entertainment, food vendors, and a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Due to the unique circumstances surrounding this year’s event, the celebration will be limited to a spectacular fireworks display synchronized to a patriotic musical soundtrack. We do invite you to make a full day of it in Hughesville by checking out the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department’s 4th of July Party from 4 until 10 p.m. at 10 South Railroad Street, featuring food, live music, beverages, and family fun.
While this year’s format is more streamlined, we are grateful to be able to continue this cherished community tradition and celebrate America’s 250th Birthday together. We look forward to bringing back a full day of entertainment, vendors, activities, and community festivities next year.
The Hughesville Borough reminds residents that special parking restrictions will be in effect for the upcoming Independence Day celebration and Lycoming County Fair.
On Saturday, July 4, no parking will be permitted on designated streets for the Fourth of July festivities.
Parking will be allowed again on July 5, 6, and 7.
Beginning Wednesday, July 8, through Saturday, July 18, no parking will once again be in effect for Fair Week on the following streets:

Main Street, East and West, from Lycoming to Broadway Streets

Second Street, west side, from Lycoming to Academy Streets

Third Street, east and west, from Fairgate to Water Street

Fourth Street, west side, from Broadway to Academy Street

Fifth Street, from West Broadway to Water Street and East Broadway to 147 South Fifth Street

East Park Street, north and south, from South Hughes Alley to Main Street

East Lycoming Street, north and south, from Second to Main Street

Broadway, north and south, from Main Street to Fifth Street

South Hughes Alley, one-way northbound, to Park Street and Broadway
Borough street crews will post temporary no-parking signs throughout the affected areas. Residents and visitors are encouraged to observe all posted restrictions to help ensure a safe and successful holiday celebration and Fair Week.
