MUNCY TOWNSHIP RELEASES PROPOSED DATA CENTER ORDINANCE
Muncy Township’s proposed data center ordinance is now available for public review on the township’s website. The 20-page draft would permit data centers in industrial zones only with conditional-use approval. Requirements address traffic, noise, lighting, building size and emergency access. Developers would need a 100-foot landscaped buffer, closed-loop cooling systems and proof their water use won’t harm local supplies. Township drinking-water wells could not be used for cooling. The proposed rules also aim to prevent infrastructure costs from falling on taxpayers and utility customers.
