MUNCY MAN GUILTY ON SEX ASSAULT AGAINST CHILDREN CHARGES
A Lycoming County man has been found guilty on dozens of sexual assault charges following a two-day trial. Fifty-seven-year-old Timothy Stroud Sr., of Muncy, was convicted on 39 counts involving five minor victims, some as young as four years old. Prosecutors say the charges stem from a 2022 investigation that originally included more than 1,000 alleged offenses, later consolidated for trial. Stroud was found guilty of multiple serious crimes, including rape and child endangerment. He remains in the Lycoming County Prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in August, with additional charges still pending in separate cases.
MAN FOUND GUILTY IN 2016 SHOOTING CASE
A Lycoming County jury has found a man guilty of first-degree murder in a years-old shooting case. Dawud Rogers was convicted in the 2016 death of William “Micky” Blackwell following a two-day trial. The prosecution argued the killing was revenge for an earlier assault, while the defense questioned witness credibility and lack of physical evidence. The jury had initially reported being deadlocked but returned a guilty verdict less than an hour later. Rogers had faced a previous trial that ended in a hung jury, leading to this retrial.
TWO MUNCY TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS CALLED TO RESIGN
Tensions boiled over at a Muncy Township supervisors meeting this week, ending abruptly after a resident called for two officials to resign. According to the Sun Gazette, those remarks drew a standing ovation, prompting the board chair to shut down public comment and adjourn the meeting early. State police were later called to the building but determined the gathering was peaceful and no action was needed. Officials say calling law enforcement stemmed from a miscommunication, as residents stayed behind to discuss ongoing concerns, including lawsuits and how township business is being handled.
SENIOR ART STUDENTS’ WORK FEATURED AT PENN COLLEGE
A new exhibit highlighting student creativity is now open at Pennsylvania College of Technology. “Graphic Design 2026” is on display at The Gallery at Penn College through May 8, featuring work from graduating seniors in the school’s graphic design program. An opening reception is set for Friday afternoon and is free to the public. Faculty say the exhibit showcases top projects and gives students a chance to present their work to the community and industry professionals before graduation.
SOME CHARGES DROPPED OTHERS HELD FOR COURT
A district judge has dismissed several charges but held others for trial against a Montgomery man accused in multiple cases. Court records show 44-year-old Douglas Hans had 15 counts dropped, including several indecent assault and exposure charges. However, he will still face trial on 11 remaining charges, including indecent assault, corruption of a minor and child endangerment tied to alleged incidents between August and January. In separate cases, Hans is also being held on assault-related charges involving family members. He remains in jail with bail set across multiple cases.
WARRANT ISSUED FOR MAN WHO SKIPPED HIS TRIAL
A Williamsport man was convicted in less than 30 minutes after skipping his own trial. Prosecutors say 37-year-old Nicholas Etumnu ran a drug operation in the city, selling cocaine and using a cellphone to arrange deals. Investigators testified that during a strip search, officers found cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and packaging materials hidden on his body. An informant and surveillance video were key evidence in the case. A jury quickly found Etumnu guilty on multiple charges, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest ahead of sentencing.
TRAFFIC DEATHS IN PA AT AN ALL TIME LOW
Traffic deaths in Pennsylvania dropped to a record low in 2025, according to PennDOT. Officials say 1,047 people were killed in crashes, the lowest number since record keeping began in 1928 and down from the year before. PennDOT credits safety programs, enforcement efforts and infrastructure improvements for the decline. While most categories saw decreases, officials say aggressive driving and some other crash types increased, and they’re urging drivers to stay alert, avoid distractions and always buckle up.
