A proposed ceasefire effort appeared to gain shape Tuesday as U.S. officials and regional intermediaries worked to open a path toward talks with Iran. Pakistan’s foreign ministry said diplomacy was continuing behind the scenes, while the White House signaled that a broader plan had been passed through intermediaries.
At the same time, the conflict showed no sign of easing on the ground. Iran said no direct negotiations were taking place and vowed to keep fighting, while Israel continued its military campaign. President Donald Trump said progress had been made, but the public messages from Washington and Tehran remained far apart.
The gap between those statements left the broader situation unsettled. Missile wreckage was reported in the West Bank, and drone activity disrupted operations in Bahrain, adding to signs that the war’s effects are being felt well beyond Iran and Israel. The latest developments point to two tracks moving at once: active fighting and a fragile diplomatic push that has yet to produce a public breakthrough.
