ROUTE 220 SHOOTING SUSPECT DENIED BAIL
A Lycoming County man accused of shooting at his girlfriend and ramming her car off Route 220 told a judge he doesn’t remember the incident, claiming he’s been in psychosis for weeks. According to North Central PA dot com, 46 year old Adam Taylor, walked into a UPMC hospital Sunday, ending a days-long manhunt after state police say he fired a rifle into his girlfriend’s SUV and fled in a stolen pickup. Judge William Solomon denied bail, citing public safety concerns. Taylor faces two counts of attempted homicide, punishable by up to life in prison.
MONTOUR SHERIFF WON’T PARTICIPATE IN ICE TRAINING OVER QUOTAS A central Pennsylvania sheriff is backing away from a federal immigration partnership over concerns about arrest quotas. According to the Daily Item, Montour County Sheriff William McKenna says he initially supported joining the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement 287(g) program and applied last year, attracted by free training and federal support. But McKenna says he chose not to send any deputies for training after learning incentives would include bonuses tied to the number of arrests. He says that could violate Pennsylvania law banning quotas. McKenna says his office will still cooperate with other agencies when asked, but will not participate in the program.
BROADBAND EXPANSION STALLED
Pennsylvania’s push to expand high-speed internet is at a standstill as federal approval for broadband funding remains delayed. According to Spotlight PA, more than 120 days after the state submitted its plan, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration has yet to sign off, preventing agreements with providers and delaying construction. The holdup affects nearly 800 million dollars intended to bring reliable internet access to unserved and underserved areas statewide, leaving Pennsylvania among a small group of states still waiting for the federal green light.

The truck was later recovered and processed with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police, and felony theft charges have been filed.

PennDOT says two to three daytime blasts are planned between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., causing brief lane restrictions. The multi-year project includes intersection realignment, bridge work, and a relocated park-and-ride, with completion expected in 2029.
BILL TO PROVIDE INSCHOOL LUNCHES BEING CONSIDERED
Pennsylvania lawmakers are weighing a proposal to address student hunger as food insecurity continues to affect families statewide. At a House Majority Policy Committee hearing, the Pennsylvania State Education Association urged support for House Bill 180, which would establish state funding to provide free school lunches for all students. Advocates say reliable access to meals improves attendance, behavior, and learning, especially as federal cuts to SNAP increase pressure on families. Supporters note the proposal would build on Governor Josh Shapiro’s initiative to provide free breakfasts in schools.
