TEENS ACCUSED OF ARMED ROBBERY HELD FOR COURT

The two teens who were arrested for the afternoon armed robbery of a couple in downtown Williamsport October 24th  have been  held for court after testimony from prosecution witnesses in District Court yesterday.  According to the Sun Gazette, 16 year old Aajujaun Johnson and 19 year old Nyreese Turner are charged with felony robbery terroristic threats, receiving stolen property and conspiracy after the two were apprehended a few blocks away from the crime scene once identified by city police.  A third person involved in the robbery who 13, is being tried in juvenile court.  Johnson and Turner are incarcerated on no bail.

POLICE LOCATE CHILD ABDUCTOR AFTER MANHUNT

Police have located a Winfield man accused of assaulting the mother of his child after a three hour manhunt October 22nd near Selinsgrove.  According to NorthCentral PA dot com, Shane M. Ewig allegedly pushed and kicked Michelle Kline at her apartment before he left the with their 11 year old son and police began a massive search in Monroe Township.  Police used drones from Snyder County Emergency Management, and a search and rescue bloodhound to locate Ewig, but he was found about 3 hours later and taken into custody without incident at the home of a friend.

FLU CLINIC AT GEISINGER ACROSS NE PENNSYLVANIA

There will be another Super Saturday flu vaccine event this weekend at more than 40 Geisinger locations across North Central PA.  According to a press release from the hospital, those who want to obtain a flu shot can drive up without an appointment and receive a free shot without leaving their vehicle this Saturday,  November 5th from 9am til 3pm.  Clinics offering the flu shots include Geisinger Medical Center Muncy on Route 220 Highway, as well as Geisinger facilities in Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Bellefonte, and Lock Haven.  Shots are for patients age 3 and older.  Get details at Geisinger dot org forward slash flu.

VETERAN’S DAY PARADE TOMORROW IN JERSEY SHORE

The Veteran’ Day Parade is at 2pm in Jersey Shore tomorrow and the grand marshal for the event is former US Marine and Korean War veteran Howard Wilt, with parade ambassador, Marine veteran Dan Muthler.  Groups including the Jersey Shore High School band and Daughters of the American Revolution will be represented as well as a group from Backyard Broadcasting.  In other area events –  US Representative Fred Keller will speak next Firday at the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Montoursville Cemetery at 11am, and State Representative Joe Hamm will be the keynote speaker at a Veteran’s Day prayer for America event at the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church Friday the 11th at 7pm.

ALLEGED MONTOUR COUNTY ARSONIST IN CUSTODY

The man who set fire to a house in Montour County Wednesday is in custody after police say his motivation for the fire was a domestic dispute.  According to State police, troopers responded to the disturbance that was called in from the residence on R and H avenue in Liberty township and witnessed 59-year-old John Young of Danville douse the home using gas cans and then setting the place on fire.  When confronted by police, Young was tased after he would not drop a sawzall tool when ordered ,  he was taken to the Montour County Prison without bail.  Young was charged with attempted homicide, three counts of aggravated arson and resisting arrest. 

MAN JAILED FOR 2015 RAPE OF A CHILD

A Williamsport man has been charged with seven counts of felony rape of a child and a misdemeanor after the victim came forward last week with her mother to accuse him of the crime that allegedly occurred in November of 2015.  According to North Central PA dot com, 62 year old Larry Creighton, who was considered a family friend, was accused of the assault against the 8 year old girl – at the time –  when they were alone at a home on Sheridan Street. Creighton is being held on 75 thousand dollars bail and will have a preliminary hearing on November 10th.

TRACTOR TRAILER CRASH IN SHAMOKIN DAM

There was a tractor trailer crash overnight in Shamokin Dam and it has closed the Route 11 northbound lane at the 11/15 split.  According to PennDOT drivers can access route 11 northbound by turning at the traffic light toward Northumberland borough.  Crews are expected to be on the scene in Monroe Township, Snyder County cleaning up the crash area until about mid morning.  You can check all Pennsylvania traffic conditions at 511PA dot com.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS IS BACK FOR 2022

Victorian Christmas presented by Preservation Williamsport will be back for the weekend of November 18th this year.  According to Victorian Christmas PA dot com, the 23rd annual event celebrates Williamsport’s architectural heritage of vintage homes, mansions, museums, churches and other public structures, by offering a host of events at various locations throughout Williamsport.  The theme for the three day Victorian Christmas this year is “Arts of the Era, Music & Theatre”.  The tour of the iconic homes on the route is scheduled from 9-5 on Saturday.  Check the schedule and buy tickets for the tour on the website or Facebook page of  Victorian Christmas in Williamsport.
